On May 22, AP Asia Opportunistic Holdings, indirectly owned by Apollo Global Management, a US-based global private equity and alternative asset management firm, sold a 3.4 percent stake in JSW Cement, while Madison India offloaded nearly 2.2 percent shares in Pine Labs via open market transactions.
The stock reaction to these transactions was significant, with JSW Cement shares experiencing the biggest single-day rally since its debut on the bourses on August 11, 2025, rising 12.03 percent to finish at Rs 137.99 on the National Stock Exchange. In contrast, Pine Labs hit an all-time low, closing 6.32 percent down at Rs 142.84 amid high volumes.
In a notable transaction, AP Asia Opportunistic Holdings Pte sold 4.58 crore equity shares (3.36 percent stake) in JSW Cement for Rs 568.14 crore. As of March 2026, the company was holding 4.64 crore shares (3.4 percent stake) in the cement company. The transaction price was Rs 124 per share.

The sale of AP Asia's stake in JSW Cement was picked up by a total of 11 domestic and global investors, who collectively acquired 3.36 percent stake. ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund was the largest buyer, purchasing 1.19 crore shares in JSW Cement for Rs 148.5 crore. Other notable buyers included India Acorn ICAV, SBI Mutual Fund, and Amundi Funds Equity India.

Meanwhile, Madison India Capital-owned Madison India Opportunities IV sold 2.47 crore shares (2.15 percent stake) in Pine Labs, the point of sale (POS) and payment systems provider, for Rs 356.86 crore. Madison India was holding 2.53 crore equity shares (2.21 percent) stake in Pine Labs as of March 2026.
In another significant transaction, global investment firm Franklin Resources Inc, operating globally as Franklin Templeton, acquired 63.86 lakh Pine Labs shares (0.55 percent stake) through several schemes. Other investors in Pine Labs included Tata Mutual Fund, Morgan Stanley Asia Singapore, iProfile Emerging Markets Private Pool, ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund, ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company, and HSBC Mutual Fund, who collectively acquired 1.59 percent shares.
