However, two months later, the employee resigned, citing the earlier refusal as a moment of realization that Malik did not trust her. During an exit interview, Malik discovered that the employee had been traveling two hours each way to reach the office, with severe traffic conditions on Fridays. He realized that approving a single remote day could have made a significant difference in her work-life balance.
