Indian Oil Corporation Ltd's (IOCL) LPG brand, Indane, is facing an unprecedented situation with its LPG refill booking system across the country crashing due to call volumes surging to 8-10 times the usual levels. The company has reported that the number of calls received for LPG refill booking on its IVRS and missed call numbers has increased significantly, resulting in the entire system coming under heavy load.

The situation has caused chaos, with consumers unable to book refills through the system thronging distributor offices. The vendor invoice management system is also down, and the supply of domestic cylinders has reduced by 50% while demand has increased by 50%. Customers are facing difficulty in booking refills, and some are even visiting distributor offices to collect receipts and cylinders.

To improve the situation, Indane has taken several steps, including increasing system capacity and reducing the number of audio prompts to enable customers to complete the booking process faster. Additionally, the system enters a non-business hour processing cycle after 10 pm every day, and all booking requests received between 10 pm and 6 am are processed after 6 am the next day.
