Hyundai Motor India Experiences Temporary Production Disruption Due to Fire at Supplier's Facility
A fire broke out at one of the manufacturing facilities of Mobis India Ltd, a supplier to Hyundai Motor India, in the state of Tamil Nadu, leading to a temporary disruption in the automaker's production operations. According to an exchange filing made by Hyundai Motor India on Monday, the incident occurred at Mobis India's facility in Irrungattukottai, Kancheepuram district, on the afternoon of May 31.
The facility, which supplies audio components and certain other automotive parts to Hyundai Motor India, was affected by the fire. Fortunately, no fatalities have been reported. Hyundai Motor India stated that the company and Mobis teams are working closely to assess the situation and the extent of damage to the Mobis facility.
As a result of the incident, Hyundai Motor India's production operations will experience a temporary disruption. However, the company has confirmed that alternative sourcing and supply continuity measures are being actively explored to minimize the operational impact. Additionally, Hyundai Motor India noted that there is sufficient vehicle inventory in its dealer network to take care of customer demand.
