Gujarat Gas Share Price Drops 7% Amid Broader Market Gains: Exploring the Underlying Factors
Gujarat Gas Share Price Slumps 6.96% on Force Majeure Notice
Date: March 5, 2026
Gujarat Gas (₹389.45) shares declined by up to 6.96% in Thursday's trading session, following the company's announcement that it has issued Force Majeure Notices to its industrial customers due to the disrupted availability of R-LNG in the Middle East.
The ongoing conflict in the Middle East, involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, has resulted in the disruption of fuel shipments, impacting Qatar's liquefied natural gas (LNG) supplies. Qatar, which accounts for a significant portion of India's LNG imports, has halted operations at its Ras Laffan plant after an Iranian drone strike.

As a result, Gujarat Gas has invoked a Force Majeure clause, restricting natural gas supplies to its industrial customers starting from March 6, 2026. The company's Force Majeure Notices are in accordance with the provisions of its Gas Supply Agreements.
Gujarat Gas serves customers in six states in India, including 4,430 industrial customers, 15,600 commercial customers, and 2.27 million household clients. The company has stated that it is closely monitoring the situation and will inform the stock exchanges of any material updates.
The ongoing conflict in the Middle East has resulted in significant human losses, with over 1,000 people killed in Iran and dozens elsewhere in the region. The situation remains uncertain, and Gujarat Gas has not estimated the financial impact of the disrupted LNG supplies.
