Government Targets Global Leadership in Live Events Industry by 2030, Aims to Create 15-20 Million New Jobs
India Aims to Become Global Leader in Concerts and Live Entertainment by 2030
The Centre is working on a strategy to transform India into a leading global destination for concerts and large-scale live entertainment by the end of the decade, identifying the "concert economy" as a major contributor to future economic expansion. This vision was reviewed during the fourth meeting of the Live Events Development Cell (LEDC), convened under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, according to a report by news agency PTI.
The session, chaired by Secretary Chanchal Kumar, brought together officials from nine Union ministries, representatives of six states, and a dozen stakeholders from the industry. The LEDC is tasked with building a structured roadmap to accelerate the sector's growth and position the concert economy as one of the key drivers of national growth by 2030. The goal is to create an estimated 15-20 million additional jobs, making organised live entertainment one of the fastest-expanding segments within the media and entertainment ecosystem.
The secretary emphasised that the sector contributes not only to job creation but also boosts tourism and generates wider economic benefits across related industries. To support this growth, the LEDC is implementing a single-window clearance mechanism hosted on the India Cine Hub portal, designed to simplify approvals for event organisers. This system aims to reduce bureaucratic delays that often hinder large-scale event planning by providing timely, transparent, and efficient permission processes.

The discussion also highlighted the importance of implementing the "Model Executive Order for Streamlining Licensing and Permissions for Live Events in India, 2026." This framework, shared earlier with states and Union Territories, seeks to standardise regulatory practices nationwide and create a more predictable and investor-friendly environment. With a deadline of May 31, 2026, for adoption, the model aims to support India's ambition to emerge as a major global hub for live entertainment.
