Gnani.ai Secures $10 Million in Series B Funding to Fuel Global Growth
Gnani.ai, a Bengaluru-based voice artificial intelligence startup, has raised $10 million in the first tranche of its Series B round led by Aavishkaar Capital, with participation from existing backer Info Edge Ventures. This investment comes as demand for enterprise AI agents and sovereign AI models accelerates. The funding will fuel Gnani.ai's global growth, enhance its agentic AI capabilities, broaden its multilingual and industry-focused offerings, and bolster its engineering and product teams, positioning the company to secure a strong foothold in the fast-growing global enterprise voice AI market.
Founded in 2016 by cofounders Ganesh Gopalan and Ananth Nagaraj, Gnani.ai builds voice-first AI systems for enterprises. Its platform processes more than 30 million voice interactions daily in more than 12 languages and serves over 200 enterprise customers, including Fortune 500 firms. The company is among a handful of startups selected under the Government of India's AI Mission to build sovereign foundational models. It operates across sectors such as BFSI, telecom, and government, offering products in speech recognition, text-to-speech, voice biometrics, and conversational AI.
Enterprise adoption has been strong and continues to gain momentum. Over the past 12 months, Gnani.ai has added more than 120 new customers and is steadily expanding beyond India into key international markets, including Japan, East Asia, the Middle East, and the United States. The company recently launched Inya VoiceOS, a 5-billion-parameter voice-to-voice foundational model, and introduced Vachana STT and Vachana TTS models trained on large-scale Indic language datasets.
Aavishkaar Capital, a key investor in Gnani.ai, is increasing its focus on deep-tech investments, addressing large-scale challenges. Shilpa Maheshwari, managing director of Aavishkaar Capital, noted that Gnani.ai has demonstrated technical depth and scale, with the potential to deliver impact across underserved communities.
India has made significant strides in the development of sovereign AI models. On February 18, the country unveiled three sovereign AI models at the India AI Impact Summit in New Delhi. Gnani.ai, Bengaluru-based Sarvam AI, and IIT-Bombay-led consortium's sovereign AI initiative BharatGen announced a large language model (LLM) and voice models designed to be trained, deployed, and governed entirely within India.
