The startup, founded by seasoned software as a service (SaaS) operators and former Freshworks executives Anand Venkatraman, Senthil Kanthaswamy, and Ramesh Parthasarathy, uses AI agents to automatically capture and structure customer data, reducing manual entry and enabling natural language interactions. According to its website, Dreamteam will function as an "AI-native CRM that understands your company context automatically, reasons like a human, and gets work done through specialized AI teammates." It will compete with offerings from global giants such as Salesforce and HubSpot.

Dreamteam has built half a dozen AI agents to help companies qualify inbound leads, book meetings, profile prospects, monitor every deal, capture context from calls, emails, and meetings, and configure their entire CRM through conversation.

Girish Mathrubootham's Involvement with Dreamteam

Girish Mathrubootham, who recently stepped down as chairman of Nasdaq-listed Freshworks, is closely working with the startup to flesh out the product. Mathrubootham, who placed Chennai on the global SaaS map with Freshworks, is working to replicate this success with Dreamteam, albeit with an AI-first approach.

Dreamteam Joins the Freshworks Alumni Network

Dreamteam joins the list of startups founded by Freshworks' former employees, often referred to as the Freshworks Mafia. The network has grown into a large entrepreneurial base, with around 360 startups launched by early 2026. Freshworks alumni are building enterprise tools across sectors, including Rocketlane, SuperOps.ai, SurveySparrow, and Zuper, leveraging their SaaS experience to create global, venture-backed companies.

AI Funding Surge

The funding comes amid a surge in investor interest in AI-native enterprise software, particularly in categories such as CRM, where legacy tools are ripe for disruption. Investors are increasingly backing software startups adapting to AI-led use cases across enterprise categories.

Sources said the fresh capital will be used to further build out the product, expand engineering and go-to-market teams, and accelerate customer acquisition, particularly in international markets. The company is also expected to invest in enhancing its AI capabilities, including improving agent accuracy and expanding use cases across sales and customer success functions.

Dreamteam Founders' Prior Experience

The founding team brings prior experience from Freshworks, where they worked across key functions including product development and go-to-market strategy. Anand Venkatraman was senior VP and GM, overseeing global expansion and partner ecosystems for Freshworks before he left to become CTO of Clevertap. Senthil Kanthaswamy, who joined Freshworks via the Frilp acquisition, served as the director of product management, scaling strategic product lines. Ramesh Parthasarathy was the senior VP of engineering, architecting the NEO platform and leading the Freddy AI strategy before founding Dreamteam.
