
Foreign Institutional Investors Sell Indian Equities Worth Rs 4441 Crore Amid Net Buying by Domestic Investors
Market Activity: Foreign Investors Post Net Loss, Domestic Investors Continue Buying
On May 22, foreign investors (FIIs/FPIs) saw a net loss of Rs 4441 crore, while domestic institutional investors (DIIs) net purchased shares worth Rs 6004 crore. This shift in market activity is a stark contrast to the trading session, where DIIs acquired shares worth Rs 18,437 crore and sold shares worth Rs 12,433 crore. In comparison, FIIs bought shares worth Rs 10,973 crore but sold shares totalling Rs 15,413 crore.
Year-to-Date Performance
The year-to-date performance reflects a clear divide between the two investor types. FIIs have been net sellers of shares worth Rs 2.69 lakh crore, while DIIs have net purchased shares worth Rs 3.46 lakh crore.

Market Performance
The market experienced a volatile trading session in the last week. The Nifty closed 64 points higher, while the Sensex was up by 232 points. Among sectors, IT and Digital indices outperformed, with the IT index gaining 4.25 percent and the Digital index increasing by 2.75 percent. Conversely, the Media index lost the most, shedding over 4 percent.
During the week, the market witnessed range-bound activity. On the lower side, it found support near 23,300/74,200, while it faced resistance near 23,850/75,900.
