Dermatology-Led Skincare Startup CHOSEN Raises $5 Million in Series A Funding Round
In a significant boost to the Indian skincare market, CHOSEN, a dermatology-led skincare startup, has secured $5 million in a series A funding round led by Fireside Ventures. The round also saw participation from BOLD, Alkemi Growth Capital, angel investor Avnish Anand, and several practising dermatologists.
Founded in 2020 by cosmetic dermatologist Dr. Renita Rajan, CHOSEN develops skincare products tailored for melanin-rich Indian skin, positioning itself as an evidence-based, dermatologist-led brand in India's premium skincare segment. The company's product portfolio includes topical skincare and nutraceuticals focused on pigmentation, skin texture, contour, and hair ageing.
The funding round will be used to strengthen research and development, expand its pipeline of clinically validated products, scale its dermatologist-led Centre of Excellence, and hire talent across functions. Fireside Ventures, a key investor in the round, highlighted CHOSEN's unique combination of clinical credibility and strong consumer traction.

Alkemi Growth Capital echoed this view, citing the startup's differentiated positioning in the fast-growing dermatology-led skincare category. The fundraise comes amid growing investor and strategic interest in specialised beauty and skincare startups in India, particularly brands building products tailored to local consumer needs rather than global formulations.
