Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs/FPIs) Foreign investors net sold Rs 4,741.22 crore worth of Indian equities on March 17, 2026. In contrast, domestic institutional investors (DIIs) net bought shares worth Rs 5,225.32 crore.
Market Transactions During the session, DIIs purchased shares worth Rs 16,762.65 crore and sold Rs 11,537.33 crore. Meanwhile, FIIs bought shares worth Rs 11,903.71 crore but sold Rs 16,644.93 crore.
Year-to-Date Performance For the year so far, FIIs/FPIs have net sold Rs 1,21,682 crore of Indian equities while DIIs have net bought Rs 1,86,783 crore.

Market Performance The benchmark indices continued their positive momentum, with the Nifty ending 172 points higher and the Sensex up by 568 points. The Metal, Auto, and Capital Market indices rallied over 2 percent. In contrast, the IT index shed nearly 1 percent due to profit booking.

Market Outlook India VIX declined by 8.4%, signalling easing near-term uncertainty. The recovery was supported by softer crude oil prices and positive global cues. Markets will closely track developments in West Asia and movements in crude oil prices to sustain the near-term recovery and further upside.
