EPFO's 'Nidhi Aapke Nikat' Initiative Cuts Pending Consumer Cases by 46%
EPFO Sees 46 Percent Decline in Pending Consumer Cases
The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has witnessed a significant decline in the number of pending consumer cases over the past two years. According to an official note, the number of pending cases has decreased to 2,646 by March 31, down from 4,936 two years ago, marking a substantial 46 percent reduction.
This decline can be attributed to the 'Nidhi Aapke Nikat (NAN)' programme, which aims to identify and expedite the resolution of cases in advance. As a result, the overall pendency of litigation cases has reduced from 31,036 cases on April 1, 2025, to 27,639 cases on April 1, 2026, reflecting a reduction of 3,397 cases.

A notable achievement of the EPFO's efforts is the reduction in long-pending cases. The number of cases pending for more than 10 years has declined from 8,539 to 4,665, representing a reduction of 3,874 cases, or nearly 45.4 percent.
Nationwide Special Campaign Yields Positive Results
In another initiative to reduce litigation, the EPFO conducted a nationwide Special Campaign during February-March 2026 for cases pending before Central Government Industrial Tribunals (CGITs). The campaign focused on disputes relating to interest payable by employers on delayed remittances under the Employees' Provident Funds and Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 1952. The initiative resulted in the disposal of 353 appeals, and efforts are continuing to expedite the disposal of another 650 related cases.
