Labour and Employment Minister Unveils E-PRAAPTI Portal to Streamline Provident Fund Accounts
The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) is set to launch a new web portal, E-PRAAPTI, to enable members to track and activate their old and inoperative provident fund accounts. Labour and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya announced the development on Wednesday.
The E-PRAAPTI portal will offer a streamlined Aadhaar-based authentication system, allowing members to access old EPF accounts that may not have a Universal Account Number (UAN) and update their profiles after linking and activating the UAN. The EPFO began issuing the 12-digit UAN to members in 2014. E-PRAAPTI stands for ‘Employee Provident Fund Aadhaar-Based Access Portal for Tracking Inoperative Accounts’.
In its initial phase, the portal will operate on a member ID-based system to ensure a secure and efficient rollout. The minister stated that it is contemplated to expand the scope of E-PRAAPTI to include members who may not be able to recall or access their old IDs. The platform is expected to reduce manual intervention, minimise documentation, and enhance transparency and efficiency.
