CNG Prices Hike: Delhi Sees Rs 2 Increase as City-Wise Rates Unfold
CNG Price Hike Amid Global Energy Disruptions
The global energy market is experiencing disruptions linked to the ongoing Iran conflict, leading to a hike in compressed natural gas (CNG) prices in India. On Friday, CNG prices were increased by Rs 2 per kg in Delhi, taking the revised rate to Rs 79.09 per kg. This price hike follows a similar increase by Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) by Rs 2 per kg. The revised rate in Mumbai is now Rs 84 per kg.
The latest price hike comes on the heels of a Rs 3 per litre increase in petrol and diesel prices by Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) just hours earlier. The disruptions in shipping routes through the Gulf region and rising global crude oil prices have put pressure on fuel prices across India in recent weeks. The autorickshaw unions in Mumbai have demanded a fare hike in response to the CNG price increase, pressing for a Re 1 hike in the base fare of Rs 26.
