BlackRock, the world's largest asset manager, has strengthened its position in Sammaan Capital with the acquisition of an additional 562,942 shares, representing a 0.06% stake in the company. This move follows an open market transaction on March 11, 2026, increasing BlackRock's stake in the Housing Finance Corporation (HFC) to 7.68% from 7.62%.
The acquisition was made on behalf of discretionary management clients, with the price of the shares not disclosed. This development comes amidst severe volatility in the small-cap stock, driven by the broader market sell-off.

The company's yearly performance has also been impacted, with seven out of the last eight years closing in the red. The largest annual decline occurred in 2019, when the stock dropped 63.32%.

The company is also planning to merge with Sammaan Finserv Limited, which will consolidate all NBFC lending operations, distribution infrastructure, and manpower under Sammaan Capital Limited, enabling a streamlined organisational structure, enhanced governance, and a unified mortgage-led product offering.
