Bharti Airtel's Board Approves Reappointment of Founder as Chairman
Bharti Airtel's board has approved the reappointment of founder Sunil Bharti Mittal as chairman of the company for another five-year term, beginning October 1, 2026. This decision was announced in a regulatory filing dated May 13.
The company also approved the reappointment of Nisaba Godrej as an independent director for a second five-year term, starting August 4, 2026, subject to approval from members. The filing noted that Rajan Bharti Mittal, a non-executive director on the board, is Sunil Bharti Mittal's brother.
Sunil Bharti Mittal has been associated with Bharti Airtel since its inception and continues to lead the telecom group as it expands across mobile services, broadband, enterprise connectivity, and digital platforms in India and overseas markets. The filing stated that Mittal is not debarred from holding the office of director by any order issued by SEBI or any other authority.

Nisaba Godrej, who currently serves as an independent director on the Airtel board, has been reappointed for a second consecutive term running until August 3, 2031.
