Bengaluru's Outer Ring Road Paralyzed by Heavy Rains: Calls for Permanent Fix Grow Amid Commuter Disruption
Bengaluru's Traffic Woes Continue as Heavy Rainfall Brings Outer Ring Road to a Standstill
Heavy rainfall on Tuesday evening once again brought Bengaluru's traffic to a standstill, with Outer Ring Road (ORR) emerging as one of the worst-hit stretches. The situation was exacerbated by waterlogging and congestion at multiple locations, leaving motorists stranded for hours.
Frustrated commuters took to social media to complain about gridlocked roads and urged Chief Minister-designate DK Shivakumar to find a long-term solution to the city's recurring monsoon traffic woes. Several motorists reported being stranded for hours on ORR, particularly around Kadubeesanahalli, Bellandur, Devarabeesanahalli, and Panathur.
Motorists were not alone in their frustration, as commuters also highlighted the strain on public transport. Anil (@Anilka201) said he waited nearly 25 minutes for a bus at Kadubeesanahalli amid heavy crowds and called for faster completion of Metro projects and improvements to the city's infrastructure. "Just 30 minutes of rain and Bengaluru can't withstand it. We call ourselves an IT giant," he wrote.
