From Rs 3.2 Lakh to Rs 80 Lakh: Bengaluru Developer's Meteoric Rise to Success
A 26-year-old software developer from Bengaluru, Arka Mazumder, has taken the internet by storm after sharing his remarkable career trajectory on social media. In a video posted on Instagram, Mazumder revealed that he went from earning Rs 3.2 lakh per annum to a staggering Rs 80 lakh per annum (LPA) in just three years by strategically switching companies.
Mazumder's journey began in 2021 when he started his career as an assistant system engineer through TCS's Ninja programme, earning Rs 3.2 LPA. After clearing TCS's digital programme (Wings 1) in 2022, he was promoted to system engineer and saw his salary jump to around Rs 7 LPA. Mazumder then dedicated himself to mastering data structures and algorithms (DSA), a skillset widely considered crucial for product-based tech roles.

By 2023, Mazumder had solved over 380 LeetCode problems and was dedicating five to six hours daily to DSA practice, building confidence in medium and hard-level questions. In January 2024, he began applying for roles outside TCS and eventually cracked a role at Bengaluru-based product startup Kuku FM, where his compensation jumped to around Rs 14-15 LPA.
The biggest leap in Mazumder's career came in 2025 when he joined Google with a package of Rs 80 LPA, a move he described as the "biggest leap" of his career. Despite facing skepticism and backlash online, Mazumder maintains that his journey is genuine and driven by disciplined preparation and strategic switches.
Mazumder's story has sparked a mix of reactions online, with many congratulating him on his success while others questioned the jump from Rs 15 LPA to Rs 80 LPA. Mazumder has continued to respond to comments, emphasizing the struggle and perseverance behind his achievement.
