As part of this partnership, Amazon will invest $50 billion in OpenAI, with an initial investment of $15 billion followed by an additional $35 billion in the coming months.
OpenAI is raising $110 billion in new capital at a pre-money valuation of $730 billion, with SoftBank and Nvidia investing $30 billion each. Amazon Web Services (AWS) will serve as the exclusive third-party cloud provider for OpenAI Frontier, the enterprise platform used by OpenAI to develop, deploy, and manage AI agents.
OpenAI will also spend an additional $100 billion on Amazon Web Services over the next 8 years, building on a previous deal announced in November where OpenAI would use $38 billion in AWS services over 7 years. OpenAI will utilize 2 gigawatts of capacity powered by Amazon's in-house Trainium chips to support computing demand.
