Air India Express Managing Director Aloke Singh to Depart in March After Five-Year Tenure
Air India Express to Undergo Leadership Change
Aloke Singh, Managing Director of Air India Express, will step down from his role on 19 March 2026, marking the end of his five-year tenure. During his tenure, Air India Express has grown to become India's third-largest narrow-body operator, with a fleet of over 100 aircraft and approximately 8,300 employees.
Captain Hamish Maxwell will assume the role of accountable manager, overseeing safety compliance and operational standards. Maxwell will be responsible for ensuring that the carrier meets all regulatory requirements. Singh's departure comes after leading the low-cost carrier through its integration with the erstwhile AirAsia India business following the Tata Group's acquisition of Air India.
Aloke Singh joined Air India Express in 2020, navigating the airline through the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent challenges. Prior to his tenure, Singh held senior leadership roles in the aviation industry, including MD of AirAsia India and Oman Air. He holds an MBA from the Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, and a fellowship from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).
